Hello! I'm
pleased to meet you. Thank you for stopping by.
My name is
Joyce
Livingston
and I'm a former
television broadcaster of 18 years with KTVH TV
(now KWCH TV)
out of Wichita, Kansas, where I did two daily shows each weekday:
The
Joyce Livingston Show
from
9-10 a.m.
and
Woman's
World at noon, both
shows daily M-F.
Each was a variety/talk
show, we could do anything--and we did!
That's where
I was introduced to quilting. One look at the many beautiful quilts
my guests brought
to display on my Show and I was hooked!
I began quilting
in 1982, after I retired from broadcasting, designed,
made and hand-quilted
18 bed-sized quilts and numerous wall-hangings.
In 1990, I got
really serious about quilting and began my quilt lecturing and teaching
career. And, that led to my writing career as I began to write and
submit articles on quilting, sewing and crafting to various national magazines.
It was exciting to see my articles
and projects in print, and that lead me to
writing novels
on various subjects. (And, in each novel I write, there is at least
one quilt somewhere in the story. )
When I began
designing and constructing and showing
my quilted jackets
and vests, people wanted to know how to make them,
so I began
lecturing and teaching around the country.
Those in my audiences
asked for lectures on the jackets and my personal clothing,
and they wanted
the patterns I had developed for myself, so I published my patterns.
They are available
in sizes 8-24. (see information at bottom of this page)
I've taught and
lectured during Quilt Week
at the BIG Quilt
Show in Paducah, Kentucky for four years.
And, I've taught and lectured at
The International Quilt Festival in Houston, Texas for several years.
My most popular
class is an all-day class on The Tee-Shirt Jacket, my own original design.
